BCMT Prescribed Minimum Wages 2025

The Bargaining Council for the Meat Trade Gauteng (BCMT) has announced an prescribed minimum wages increase, effective 1st March 2025.

Following negotiations, the parties to the Council have agreed that no employer shall pay, and no employee shall accept, wages or salaries below the newly prescribed minimums. This increase amounts to 8% of the current prescribed minimum wage/salary.

For your convenience, a detailed table outlining the updated wage structures across all employment categories is provided below. Employers currently operating on scales below these prescribed minimums are required to adjust wages accordingly.

COUNCIL LEVIES:
Council levy contributions being 1% of the prescribed minimum wage payable by employer and employee each.

MEAT TRADE PENSION AND PROVIDENT FUND CONTRIBUTIONS:

Pension and Provident fund contributions being 12% of the prescribed minimum wage, 7% payable by employer and 5% payable by employee.

FUNERAL FUND CONTRIBUTIONS REMAINS UNCHANGED:
